EWING, N.J. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team suffered its second loss this week, falling in non-conference action on the road at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Saturday afternoon by a score of 14-2.
Kaitlyn Conrad recorded a goal and an assist on the afternoon for the Knights, while
Meghan McKewen also scored for Neumann in the loss.
Ranked second in the country in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason poll, TCNJ wasted no time asserting itself on Saturday afternoon. The Lions scored the first four goals on the contest in just over four minutes of play to jump out to an early 4-0 lead. McKewen answered back for Neumann at the 25:19 mark to make it 4-1, but seven unanswered goals from the hosts made it 11-1 Lions heading into halftime.
The game settled a bit in the second period of play, but Neumann could not find its way back into the game. Conrad provided a second half tally for the Knights, but TCNJ tacked on three more goals of their own to walk away with the 14-2 non-conference win.
Neumann (1-2) will look to rebound next week as it heads to St. Petersburg, Florida for another non-conference matchup with Capital University. Game-time in Florida is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 28
