Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Conrad's Ten Point Day Leads Knights to Win Over Sage

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team found its way back into the win column on Saturday afternoon, notching a 19-6 non-conference win over The Sage Colleges.

Kaitlyn Conrad was outstanding on the day, tallying 10 points on seven goals and three assists. Calie Swegon was also fantastic for the Knights, scoring five times in the win. Chrissy Donohue (2 g), Keri Mallon (2 g) and Brittany Cassidy (1 g, 1 a) all recorded two points, while Lydia Beckman and Ally Bee each registered their first career goals. Gabby Curry picked up the win in goal with 12 saves on the afternoon.

After a week and half break from action due to a few postponed matches because of weather, Neumann got off to a somewhat sluggish start. The visitors scored two of the game's first three goals to take a 2-1 lead in the first four minutes of play. Luckily for the Knights though, the rust wore off and the hosts dominated the remainder of the opening period of play. Neumann responded from its slow start with eight unanswered goals to take a 9-2 lead late in the half. The Gators answered back with a late marker with a minute left to play in the first frame, but the Knights would head to halftime with a commanding 9-3 lead. Conrad led the way with four goals in the opening thirty minutes including the 100th of her career, while Swegon and Donahue each tallied twice.

Much like the start of the first half, the two teams traded goals to start the second stanza. After each team scored twice in the period to make the score 11-5 at the 22:34 mark of the frame, Neumann would open the game up from there. Using another 8-0 run capped off by Beckman and Bee's first collegiate goals, the Knights cruised to a 19-5 lead late in the game. The Gators got a late consolation goal, but it was far from enough as Neumann headed home with a convincing 19-6 victory.

Neumann (2-3) returns to the field on Tuesday, March 13th for a non-conference game versus Arcadia University. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
