ASTON, Pa. – On a cold and windy Tuesday afternoon, the Neumann University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest versus Arcadia University by a score of 24-12.
Kaitlyn Conrad paced the offense in the loss, notching six goals and an assist for seven points on the day.
Keri Mallon also tallied twice for Neumann, while
Gabby Curry made 14 saves in goal.
The game opened with Neumann jumping out to a 2-0 lead via goals from Mallon and Conrad, but Arcadia would fight back for three unanswered markers to take a 3-2 lead at the 21:09 mark.
Carlee Herrin answered back for the hosts a minute and a half later to tie the game up at three apiece, but again Arcadia responded with a vengeance. Using five Neumann yellow cards to their advantage, the visitors recorded six straight goals including five on the man-advantage to take a commanding 9-3 lead. Neumann got one goal back late in the period, but headed into halftime down by a score of 9-4.
Arcadia continued to roll in the second half, scoring six of the period's first seven goals to widen its lead to 15-5 at the 23:34 mark. Neumann tried to find its way back into the game, but the visitors had an answer for every rally the hosts created. Arcadia recorded 15 second half goals compared to just eight for Neumann and went home with the comfortable 24-12 victory.
Neumann (2-3) will look to rebound this Saturday, March 17
th when the team heads to Cedar Crest College for its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) matchup of the season. Game-time is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
