Women's Lacrosse Flies Past Falcons

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team rebounded from a tough loss on Tuesday with a comfortable win in its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener on the road at Cedar Crest College on Saturday morning by a score of 17-1.

The Knights received multiple goal efforts from five different players in the win. Kaitlyn Conrad led the team with four goals, Courtney Petrucelli and Carlee Herrin each notched three goals, and Calie Swegon and Cassidy Raysik both tallied twice. Gabby Curry and Sara Ropski were both strong in goal, splitting action in net and allowing just one goal in the contest.

Neumann took the play to Cedar Crest from the opening draw, scoring just 29 seconds into the game via a Chrissy Donahue marker to go up 1-0. The Knights continued to press forward and registered seven more unanswered goals in the opening frame to go up 8-0 with 18:29 left to play in the half. The Falcons got one goal back under a minute later to make it 8-1, but four more Neumann tallies late in the half sent the game to halftime with the Knights leading 12-1.

With a large second-half lead, Neumann continued to dominate play in the final thirty minutes. The Knights scored five times in the period and kept the Falcons off the scoreboard the entire half to take home the comfortable 17-1 win. Shots for the game finished 31-1 in favor of Neumann.

Neumann (3-4, 1-0 CSAC) gets right back to action on Monday, March 19th with a non-conference home showdown with Alvernia University. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
