ASTON, Pa. – After over a week hiatus due to poor weather conditions, the Neumann University women's tennis team returned to the court on Saturday afternoon, falling in the team's home opener to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Clarks Summit University by a score of 8-1.
The contest opened with the Knights falling in all three doubles matches. Neumann nearly won at second doubles as the team received an excellent effort from
Maddy Varney and
MiKayla Radisch. The pair fought valiantly, but ultimately fell 9-7.
As the match moved to singles competition, the Defenders continued to take the play to Neumann. The visitors took home five wins out of six matches to take home the comfortable 8-1 win.
Ashley Francis was the lone victor for Neumann on the day, picking up a 6-4, 6-2 win at fourth singles.
Neumann (0-3) will get right back to action on Monday, March 26
th when the team plays host to Cabrini University. The match is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
