SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team fell 4-3 in 11 innings at Swarthmore College on Tuesday afternoon.
Andrew La Rosa and
Curt Yenchik each had two hits in the game.
Phil Sanborn started the game and went 5.0 innings. He allowed just one hit and no runs in the no decision.
Kutter Endy pitched two hitless inning.
Isaiah Morales went 2.0 innings, allowing three runs, one unearned, on two hits.
James Angellella pitched the 10
th and 11
th innings and took the loss allowing one run on two hits.
The Knights got on the board with two runs in the first inning.
Matt McLaughlin and
John Schoelkopf hit back-to-back singles to open the game.
Cody MacNair and
Joey Gorman knocked in the first two runs. Neumann went up 3-0 in the fifth.
Zach Ray led off the inning with a double and was knocked in by McLaughlin.
The Garnet scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on a homerun. Swarthmore then tied the game on a sacrifice fly with an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. The Garnet won in walk-off fashion on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the 11
th inning.
Neumann (6-3) is scheduled to open its home schedule on Thursday against Albright. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
