SALISBURY, Md. – The Neumann University baseball went south to Salisbury University on Friday afternoon, but dropped a 12-5 decision in the non-conference game.
 
John Schoelkopf had three of the Knights' seven hits in the game. Neumann had four pitchers each go two innings. Matt Kelty started and allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits. Jared Morris and Grant Wallace each allowed four runs on six hits. Nick Henry pitched a hitless two innings and struck out three.
 
The Sea Gulls scored four runs in the first two inning and added three more in the fourth for 7-0 lead. The Knights took advantage of a walk and hit-by-pitches to score two runs in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Schoelkopf and Cody MacNair each hit RBI singles.
 
Salisbury answered with four more runs in the home half of the fifth and added one more in the sixth. The Knights took advantage of an error in the eighth inning. Joe Nepi reached base on an error and scored on a single by Jake Urena.
 
The Knights didn't go quietly and plated two more runs in the ninth inning. Matt McLaughlin walked to open the inning and Schoelkopf followed with a single. MacNair knocked in McLaughlin with a sacrifice fly. Joey Pedorenko hit an RBI groundout to allow Colin Pollard to score as he pinch ran for Schoelkopf.
 
Neumann (6-4) will head to Widener on Tuesday for more non-conference action. First pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
