ASTON, Pa. - After seeing its five game win streak snapped in its last game at Cabrini last week, the Neumann University women's lacrosse team found its way back into the win column in a big way on Tuesday afternoon, shutting out Centenary University by a score of 17-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
Kaitlyn Conrad was sensational on the afternoon, registering a point on 13 of Neumann's 17 goals on the day (5 g, 8 a) to boost her season point total to 90 (63 g, 27 a).
Melanie Setting (4 g),
Calie Swegon (3 g) and
Courtney Petrucelli (2 g) also recorded multi-goal games, while
Gabby Curry and
Sara Ropski combined for four saves in goal for the shutout win.
Neumann raced out to a comfortable early lead through stellar play from Conrad in the opening 15 minutes of play. The junior attacker found the back of the net twice and assisted on four other tallies to give the Knights a 6-0 lead before the Cyclones could even register a shot on goal. Neumann continued to dominate late in the half, piling on five more goals in the final 12:44 of the period to take an 11-0 lead into the halftime break.
The second half saw the Knights' team defense continue to shine. Neumann held Centenary to just eight shots the entire contest, including just four that needed to be saved. The Knights also tacked on six more goals to their total to walk away with the 17-0 conference victory.
Neumann (8-5, 4-1 CSAC) will return to the field on Saturday, April 14
th for a huge CSAC matchup with rival Marywood University. Game-time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
