Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's tennis team was defeated in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday afternoon, falling to visiting Cairn University by a score of 7-2.
Emily Custer was the standout star for the Knights on the afternoon, picking up the team's only two wins of the day.
To open the match, Custer teamed up with partner
Mia Cimino for a 9-7 win at first doubles. Unfortunately for the Knights, Cairn would pick up wins at second and third doubles to take a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.
The Highlanders continued to roll as the match moved to singles, winning five of the six matches to cruise to the 7-2 win. The lone bright spot in singles play for the Knights was Custer, who won at first singles in a hard-fought tie-break (6-2, 4-6, 10-4).
Neumann (0-6, 0-6 CSAC) will get back to action on Friday, April 13
th when the team hosts Rosemont College. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
