Knights Complete Sweep of Cavaliers

RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team completed the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) series sweep with a 7-3 win over Cabrini University on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Knights put four runs on the board in the second inning. Cody MacNair reached base on an error to start the inning. Joey Pedorenko followed with a double. Jake Urena knocked in MacNair with an RBI groundout. Curt Yenchik singled for two runners on base and Zach Ray walked to load the bases. Andrew Fowler singled to bring in Pedorenko. Matt McLaughlin hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Ray to score.
 
In the third inning, Pedorenko reached on an error and scored on a single by Urena for a 4-0 lead. The Cavaliers got one run back in the bottom of the third for a 4-1 game. Cabrini plated two runs in the sixth inning for a 5-3 score.
 
In the top of the ninth, the Knights scored two insurance runs. With one out, John Schoelkopf, MacNair and Pedorenko hit back-back-to-back singles. Schoelkopf stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on the hit by McNair. Colin Pollard pinch ran for MacNair and scored on a single by Joe Nepi.
 
Grant Wallace went 5.1 innings in the start for the win. He allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out a pair. Isaiah Morales went the final 3.2 innings for the save and did not allow a hit while striking out six.  Pedorenko finished with three hits and two runs scored. Urena knocked in a pair.
 
Neumann (13-13, 4-0 CSAC) will host Centenary University on Saturday for a conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
