ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team swept two games against Centenary University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. The Knights won by scores of 3-2 and 6-1.
The Knights got on the board in the third inning as
Zach Ray reached on an error and scored on a single by
Andrew La Rosa. The Cyclones answered with a run in the top of the fourth.
In the fifth,
Curt Yenchik reached on an error.
Colin Pollard come in to pinch run and reached third on a failed pick-off attempt by the Cyclones. Pollard then scored as
Andrew Fowler reached on an error. With one out in the sixth inning,
Joey Pedorenko doubled and came around to score on a single by Ray.
Centenary scored a run in the top of the seventh, but Neumann hung on the for 3-2 game one win.
Joey Gorman picked up his first win. He went 5.0+ innings, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out four.
Kutter Endy got his third save of the season. He went 2.0 innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits.
In game two,
Josh Cruz pitched 8.0 innings for the win. He allowed one unearned run on seven hits.
John Schoelkopf scored the Knights first run in the first inning as he walked and scored on a double by
Cody MacNair. The Knights added two more runs in the second inning for a 3-0 lead.
The Cyclones scored their run in the fourth inning. The Knights added three insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ray had a two-run single in the inning.
Neumann (15-13, 6-0 CSAC) will head to Susquehanna University on Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference match-up beginning at 4:00 PM.
