SELINGSGROVE, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team took a lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, but fell at Susquehanna University 11-10 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights jumped on the board early and scored five runs in the first inning.
Matt McLaughlin led off the game with a double and the first six batters reached base.
Zach Ray hit a two-run single in the inning.
Neumann added a run in the second inning as
Andrew La Rosa doubled and scored on a double by
John Schoelkopf.
Cody MacNair hit a two-run homerun in the fourth inning as the Knights plated three in the frame. The Knights added an unearned run in the sixth and held a 10-2 lead after seven innings.
The River Hawks started their comeback in the bottom of the eighth as they scored two runs. Susquehanna exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for the 11-10 walk-off win.
Jared Morris started the game on the mound and went four innings. He allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and struck out three.
Colin Perro went the next three innings.
James Angellella and
Nick Henry each came out of the bullpen.
Kutter Endy ended up with the loss.
Neumann (14-15) will host Rutgers-Camden tomorrow in a rescheduled game beginning at 3:30 PM.
