LA PLUME, Pa. – Looking to follow up its first win of the season yesterday, the Neumann University women's tennis team headed to Keystone College on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Knights, the Giants were too much on the day, as Neumann fell by a score of 6-3.
The Knights started the match just like yesterday finished, taking the play to Keystone in doubles competition. Neumann won two of the three matches, as
Maddy Varney and
Ashley Francis teamed up for an 8-5 win at second doubles, and Lindsay Padilla and
Allyson Wagner partnered for an 8-3 victory at third doubles.
The Knights could not hold their early momentum though, falling in five of six matches as the contest moved to singles play. Wagner won her second match of the day at fifth singles for Neumann's lone win.
Neumann (1-7, 1-7 CSAC) is back in action next Monday, April 22nd when the team plays host to Gwynedd Mercy University. The match is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
