ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team completed the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) season sweep of Immaculata University with a 7-3 win on Thursday afternoon.
Josh Cruz started the game on the mound and picked up the win. He allowed two unearned runs on three hits and struck out five in 5.0 innings. He did not allow the hits until the fifth inning.
Isaiah Morales pitched the final 4.0 innings for the save. He allowed one run on two hits and struck out three.
John Schoelkopf went 4-for-5 and scored three runs. Andrew LaRosa went 3-for-4 and knocked in three runs.
Cody MacNair finished 3-for-5.
Curt Yenchik hit a two-run homerun.
After Immaculata scored an unearned run to start the game, Schoelkopf hit a triple in the bottom of the first and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by
Joey Pedorenko. The Mighty Macs plated another unearned run in the top of the third for a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Schoelkopf led off with a double and scored on a single by La Rosa to tie the game. Yenchik followed with his homerun to score La Rosa and take a 4-2 lead.
MacNair scored on a bases loaded walk by
Andrew Fowler in the fifth inning. La Rosa knocked in Pedorenko in the sixth inning. Immaculata got one run back in the top of the eighth. Schoelkopf got the run back in the bottom of the ninth as he scored from second on a sacrifice fly by La Rosa.
Neumann (17-17, 8-2 CSAC) will head to Marywood on Saturday for a CSAC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
