Baseball Takes Two from Pacers

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team swept a pair of Colonial State Athletic Conference (CSAC) contests at Marywood University on Saturday afternoon. The Knights won by scores of 6-1 and 13-2.
 
In the first game, Dan Padilla went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Cody MacNair was 2-for-3 and scored a run. Grant Wallace pitched the complete game, going 7.0 innings. He allowed one run on six hits struck out seven.
 
The Knights got on the board with three runs on the top of the third inning. John Schoelkopf started the inning with a walk and MacNair was hit by a pitch. Andrew La Rosa followed with a single to load the bases. Curt Yenchik knocked in Schoelkopf on a sacrifice fly. Padilla singled in MacNair and La Rosa scored on a groundout by Zach Ray.
 
Neumann added three more runs in the seventh inning. MacNair singled and Eric Jester came in to pinch run. Jester stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by La Rosa. Yenchik doubled and had Joe Nepi pinch run, who scored on a triple by Padilla. Padilla then scored on a sacrifice fly by Ray.
 
For game two, Ray went 3-for-5, scored two runs and knocked in one. La Rosa scored three runs. Phil Sanborn started the game and went 5.0 innings for the win. He allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three. Kutter Endy went 3.0 scoreless innings and struck out two. Jared Morris pitched the ninth inning.
 
Neumann put a run on the board in the second inning as Yenchik doubled and scored on a single by Ray. The Pacers tied the game with a run in the third. The Knights took back the team with an unearned run in the fourth. Marywood tied the game again with a run in the fifth inning.
 
After a rain and lightning delay in the sixth inning, the Knights plated four unearned runs to take a 6-2 advantage. Neumann sealed the win with seven runs in the top of the ninth inning.
 
Neumann (19-17, 10-2 CSAC) will head to Cairn on Monday for a conference game beginning at 3:00 PM.
