ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team will host Marywood University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) first round contest on Wednesday, May 2.
Neumann finished conference action 17-5 overall and is the No. 4 seed in the postseason. Marywood finished 15-7 overall and is the No. 5 seed.
During the regular season, the teams split their season series 1-1 back in March. The Pacers won game one 5-4 while the Knights took game two 11-1 in five innings.
Julia Cox knocked in three runs in each game for six RBI.
Grace Sperrazza and Rachael Albertson each knocked in three runs in the second game.
The Knights are led by
Kierstin Fallers, who is batting .491 in 32 contests. She has 55 hits, including 13 doubles, five triples and three homeruns.
Jackie Schneider is batting .455 in 27 contests. The junior has 40 hits, including 11 doubles, four triples and four homeruns. Cox is batting .442 with 46 hits, including 13 doubles.
Kate Korte' leads the team with 15 doubles and is batting .404 in all 35 games.
Jen Sieminski leads the Knights in the circle and is 10-6. She has a 2.76 ERA in 17 contests. The sophomore leads the team in innings pitched with 98.0 and has struck out 80 batters.
Taylor Naman is 8-7 in the circle and has pitched 78.1 innings.
The other first round game will feature No. 3 Immaculata hosting No. 6 Cedar Crest. The winners will advance to the double-elimination championship weekend at No. 1 seeded Gwynedd Mercy on Friday and Saturday. Gwynedd Mercy and No. 2 seeded Cabrini have a bye to the weekend.
