Softball Earns ECAC Bid

DANBURY, Conn. – The Neumann University softball team has earned a bid to the 2018 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Softball Championship.
 
The Knights will be the No. 7 seed and will travel to No. 2 seeded Westminster College on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Neumann, 24-16 overall, was the 2018 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) runner up. The Knights are being led by Kierstin Fallers, who is batting .477 in 38 contests. She has 62 hits, including 15 doubles, five triples and three homeruns. Jackie Schneider is batting .448 in 32 contests. The junior has 47 hits, including 12 doubles, four triples and five homeruns. Grace Sperrazza is batting .434 over 29 contests with 33 hits, including nine doubles, a triple and two homeruns. Julia Cox is batting .430 with 52 hits, including 14 doubles. Kate Korte' is tied with Fallers for the team lead in doubles with 15 doubles. She is batting .403 and is one of only two Knights to start all 40 games.
 
Jen Sieminski leads the Knights in the circle and is 12-7. She has a 2.49 ERA in 21 contests. The sophomore leads the team in innings pitched with 118.0 and has struck out 96 batters. Taylor Naman is 9-7 in the circle and has pitched 80.0 innings.
 
In the first round of games, No. 1 Pfeiffer University (35-5) will travel to No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham (19-17) while No. 2 Westminster College (27-9) will host No. 7 Neumann University (24-16). No. 3 Rutgers University-Newark (21-16) will host No. 6 New York University (20-20) and No. 4 Penn State Behrend (30-12) will travel to No. 5 Alvernia University (23-13).

The semifinals (Saturday, May 12) and championship game (Sunday, May 13) will be held on the campus of the highest remaining seed eligible to host.
