WENHAM, Mass. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team picked up two more wins at the Gordon Invitational on Saturday afternoon to go 4-0 to start the season.
The Knights defeated Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Smith College in straight sets, 3-0.
In the first match against MCLA, Neumann won by scored of 25-21, 25-11 and 29-27.
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with 21 kills while
Rachael Hoffmann added 12.
Alex Koppany handed out 23 assists and
Rachel Cray tallied 18. Malseed added 12 digs in the win.
The teams battled in the third set and the Knights were down 23-21. Two kills by Malseed and one by
Bre Hickey knotted the score at 25. A final kill by Malseed sealed the 29-27 win.
In the second match of the day, Neumann came away with the win over Smith by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-16. Hoffman tallied 16 kills and Malseed added 11. Cray handed out 19 assists and Koppany handed out 16. Malseed tallied 17 digs and
Hayley Glah added 12.
Neumann (4-0) will head to Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday for a non-conference match up beginning at 7:00 PM.
