ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team doubled up William Paterson University 2-1 on Friday evening in non-conference action.
Erica D'Mello put the Knights on the board in the 11
th minute of the game as she found the back of the net off a pass from
Sam Picker. After a few attempts to get the ball to the front of the net, D'Mello got the deflection in the middle of a scum for the first goal of the game.
William Paterson tied the game at one with a goal in the 23
rd minute.
As time was winding down in the first half,
Chelsea Kulesza lifted the ball in front of the net to score the eventual game-winner. A group of players were standing in front of the net when Kulesza softly put the ball in the air and into the cage.
Lizzie Yu made eight saves in net as the Knights were outshot 15-6 overall and 9-4 on net.
Neumann (3-2) will host Virginia Wesleyan in a rescheduled contest on Sunday beginning at 1:00 PM.
