FROSTBURG, Md. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team battled in its first match of the Frostburg Quad on Friday evening, but fell to Lebanon Valley College 3-2.
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with 20 kills while adding 19 digs.
Bre Hickey tallied 13 kills and
Rachael Hoffman added 10.
Hayley Glah notched 39 digs in the five sets.
Rachel Cray handed out 51 assists while adding 17 digs.
Kirsten Longueira tallied 11 digs.
The teams traded sets over the evening. LVC won the first and third matches by scores of 25-20 and 25-21. Neumann took the second match 25-21 and forced a fifth set with a 25-20 fourth set win.
The Knight jumped out to 5-0 lead in the fifth set. With a 6-1 lead, LVC went on an 8-0 run to take a 9-6 advantage. Neumann pulled back to within a point and then went back and forth for an LVC 11-10 lead. The Flying Dutchmen were able to tally four straight points to get the 15-10 set win and the 3-2 match win.
Neumann (8-9) will wrap up the Frostburg Quad tomorrow when it will face Christopher Newport at 1:00 PM and host Frostburg State at 5:00 PM.
