ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split a pair of games in the first day of the Buttermaker Tournament on Friday evening.
The Knights won the first match against FDU-Florham in four sets 3-1. Senior
Rachael Hoffman reached the 1,000 career kill plateau in the win.
After falling 25-22 in the first set, Neumann took the next three sets for the win, 25-22, 25-19 and 25-15. Hoffman led the Knights with 17 kills, as she needed just nine to reach 1,000.
Melanie Malseed tallied 14 and
Ariana Pena added 11.
Malseed added 17 digs in the win.
Carlee Herrin tallied 16 and
Hayley Glah notched 13. Pena added five block solos in the match.
In the second match of the evening, Neumann dropped a 3-0 decision to Stockton University, 25-19, 25-20 and 25-22. Malseed led the Knights with 13 kills. Herrin notched 11 digs.
Neumann (5-2) will face host Muhlenberg College and Stevenson University tomorrow in the second day of the tournament.
