PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team took home its second consecutive United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory on Friday evening with a 3-0 shutout over host Chatham University.

Jackie Schneider picked up a hat trick for Neumann in the win, while Katelyn Brown added a pair of assists. Helen Cooney continued her stellar play in goal, making 33 saves for the shutout victory.

Neumann took a while to get its skating legs going, only registering four shots in the opening period. Luckily for the Knights, Cooney was strong in the frame, stopping 13 Cougar shots to keep the game scoreless heading into intermission.

The Knights got a bit more going in the second stanza, but despite 13 shots on goal, they could not solve the Chatham goaltender to break the deadlock. Cooney was again excellent in the period, stopping nine shots to keep the game scoreless.

The game would finally break open in the third period. Schneider finally broke the tie at the 4:02 mark of the frame off a feed from Brown to give Neumann a lead that it would not relinquish. The senior forward then doubled the Knights' lead 10 minutes later again off a pass from Brown to put the game out of reach. With an empty net late in the game, Schneider then sealed her natural hat trick at the 17:51 mark to clinch the 3-0 win for the visitors.

With the impending snow storm, Neumann (5-11-0, 4-7-0 UCHC) will head home without playing the second game of the weekend versus Chatham. The game will be rescheduled for a date to be determined later in the season.
