ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Immaculata in straight sets, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with 15 kills and 12 digs.
Bre Hickey and
Ariana Pena each added 11 kills.
Rachel Cray handed out 42 assists.
Hayley Glah added 10 digs.
The first set went back and forth with the Knights edging the Mighty Macs 25-23. Immaculata was up 23-21 before Neumann tallied two kills and took advantage of two attack errors to come back for the 25-23 first set win.
The Mighty Macs took an early 5-1 lead in the second set. The Knights stormed back for a 19-11 advantage. A kill by Pena gave Neumann the 25-14 second set win.
The teams remained close during the beginning of the third set. The Knights started to pull away and a service ace by Glah and a kill by Malseed sealed the 25-18 set win and 3-0 match win.
Neumann (12-9, 2-0 Atlantic East) remains in conference action and will head to Marymount on Wednesday evening. Action is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
