ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team was edged by Immaculata University 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the game, the Knights honored their six seniors:
Sam Gatti,
Sam Picker,
Skyler Lemma,
Dasha Gorokhova,
Julia Lee and
Molly Harmon.
The Mighty Macs scored twice in the first quarter to take an early lead.
Bri Lagroteria tallied a goal in the 23
rd minute off an assist from
Rachel Koerner to cut the lead in half, 2-1. Before halftime, Immaculata added another goal for a 3-1 advantage.
Gabby Wilson pulled the Knights to within one, 3-2, in the 43
rd minute. Less than a minute later, the Mighty Macs answered for a 4-2 lead after three quarters.
Late in regulation, Picker tallied a goal off a penalty corner from Lagroteria to get within one, 4-3. The Knights had consecutive penalty corners but could not get the equalizer and fell 4-3.
Meg Frame started the game in net and made six saves in the first half.
Lizzie Yu made seven saves in the second half.
Neumann (5-10, 1-2 Atlantic East) will hit the road for the final two games of the regular season. The Knights will head to Gwynedd Mercy next Saturday for conference action beginning at 3:00 PM.
