ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team fell in a back and forth battle with Cedar Crest College 4-3 on a hot and humid Wednesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, the back and forth began. The Falcons opened the scoring in the 17
th minute.
Erica D'Mello tied the game at one four minutes later as she scored off a rebound from
Sam Picker. Cedar Crest went up 2-1 in the 25
th minute and took the lead into halftime.
Early in the third quarter,
Rachel Koerner scored off an assist from D'Mello for a 2-2 game. Just over a minute later, Cedar Crest took back the lead. In the 49
th minute,
Julia Lee found the back of the net for another tied score, this time at three-all. The Falcons once again answered and took their fourth lead of the game with just over five minutes left in regulation. This time, however, Neumann was not able to the game and Cedar Crest came away with the 4-3 win.
Lizzie Yu made nine saves in net while
Tiffany Flowers tallied a defensive save.
Neumann (3-7) will head to St. Mary's College on Maryland on Saturday for a non-conference contest beginning at 1:00 PM.
