LANCASTER, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Lancaster Bible College 85-74 on Tuesday evening.
Nasir Cassel led the Knights with 24 points, including netting five three-pointers.
Haneef Vaughn tallied 22 points.
Anthony Mitchell scored 20 points.
Sanoussi Abdourhamane had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Knights biggest lead of the first half was six points, 16-10, after the first five minutes of the game. The Chargers answered with 11 straight points for a 21-16 lead at the midway point. Lancaster Bible's largest lead of the half came with 2:22 left before halftime, 41-32. A jumper by Abdourhamane made the score 41-34 at the break.
The Chargers built a 61-50 lead throughout the first part of the second half. The Knights went on an 11-0 run, capped by a three-pointer by Cassel, to tie the game at 61. After two free throws by Lancaster Bible, Cassel hit another three-pointer to put Neumann in the lead 64-63. With the game tied at 66 with 5:09 on the clock, the Knights netted 10 straight points in just over three minutes to take a 76-66 lead. Key free throws down the straight helped Neumann come away with the 85-74 win.
Neumann (2-0) will open the home portion of its schedule on Saturday evening when it hosts Swarthmore College. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 PM.
