ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell to Johns Hopkins University 84-59 on Wednesday evening in a non-conference contest.
Haneef Vaughn led the Knights with 19 points.
Waheem Lowman netted 11 points.
Sanoussi Abdourhamane had 14 rebounds while
Anthony Mitchell grabbed 10 boards.
Midway through the first half, the Blue Jays led by a 19-12 score. Two lay-ups by Lowman and a three-pointer by
Nasir Cassel tied the game at 19. Johns Hopkins answered with seven straight points of its own for a 26-19 game. The teams would feature two more tied scores in the first half at 29 and 31. Hopkins scored the final seven points of the half to take a 36-31 lead into the half.
Five minutes into the second half, the Blue Jays built up a 10-point lead, 46-36. Midway through the half, still holding a 10-point advantage, Hopkins scored nine straight points to increase its lead to 19, 65-46. The Blue Jays would continue to add to their lead throughout the rest of regulation to come away with the 84-59 win.
Neumann (2-2) will participate in the Scotty Wood Tournament this weekend. The Knights will face SUNY Purchase on Friday afternoon beginning at 3:00 PM.
