Women's Hockey Picks Up Second Straight Shutout Win at Lebanon Valley

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Neumann University women's ice hockey team capped off an unbeaten weekend on the road on Saturday afternoon, taking home a 2-0 victory over Lebanon Valley College in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play.

Helen Cooney was outstanding again in goal for the Knights, making 13 saves to earn her second shutout of the weekend. Katelyn Brown and Kyleigh Prance scored for the Knights in the victory.

Looking for their second win of the weekend, the Knights started the contest similarly to their win on Friday evening. Neumann outshot the Flying Dutchmen by a count of 13-9 in the frame and were rewarded with the only goal of the period at the 16:10 mark. Brown found the back of the net off assists from Claudia Trionfo and Emma Paton to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. The goal was Brown's team and conference leading ninth of the season.

Neumann continued to roll in the second stanza, dominating the shot count by an even wider margin at 17-4 in the frame. Using a power play early in the period, the Knights doubled their advantage via Prance. The junior forward lit the lamp off assists from Mikaylee Henhawk and Sid Squires to give the visitors a comfortable 2-0 lead heading to the third.

With a two-goal cushion, Neumann turned to a suffocating defense to close out the contest in the final frame. The Knights held Lebanon Valley to just four third period shots and Cooney was there to stop them all to pick up her second consecutive shutout and third of the season. Shots finished 40-18 in favor of the Knights.

Neumann (5-2-0, 4-1 UCHC) will have two days to rest before returning to the ice for a non-conference game Tuesday, November 26th at Post University. Puck-drop is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
