ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Cabrini University 3-0 on Thursday evening in an Atlantic East Conference semifinal match-up. Set scores were 25-20, 25-18 and 25-14.
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with 17 kills.
Rachel Cray handed out 35 assists.
Hayley Glah led the defense with 16 digs.
Bre Hickey tallied 12 while Cray added 10.
The first set went back and forth, and the teams were tied at 20. The Knights scored four straight points for a 24-20 advantage. The Cavaliers tallied two points before
Jess Charlier sealed the set win with a kill.
With an 8-5 lead in the second set, Neumann scored five points for a 13-5 lead. A kill by Hickey put the Knights up 2-0 with the second set win.
The Knights took an early 4-1 lead in the third set. After trading points, Neumann started to pull away and went up by an 18-6 score. A kill by Malseed sealed the win and the trip to the 2019 Championship match.
Neumann (18-11) advances to the Atlantic East Championship match. The Knights will head to No. 1 seeded Marymount on Saturday.
