ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's basketball team edged Keuka College 72-68 on Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Holiday Inn Rochester Downtown Tournament.
 
Haneef Vaughn led four Knights in double-digits with 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Anthony Mitchell added 18 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Sanoussi Abdourhamane tallied 12 points while Nasir Cassel netted 10.
 
The Knights started the game by scoring 10 of the first 13 points. The Wolves answered by going on an 11-0 run to take a 14-10 lead with 13:50 left in the first half. A three-pointer by Cassel stopped the run and a jumper by Vaughn put Neumann back it the lead. The Knights would remain ahead for the rest of the half and took a 31-30 lead into halftime.
 
Over the first part of the second half, the teams had eight tied scores and seven lead changes. With the game knotted at 49, the Wolves scored seven straight points. After the teams traded baskets, the Knights chipped their way into the deficit and with 4:08 on the clock tied the game at 62.
 
Keuka took the lead back, but Neumann tied the game again, this time at 68 on two free throws by Vaughn with 1:17 on the clock. With 32 seconds left in regulation, Cassel put the Knights up by two on a jumper. Vaughn went 2-for-4 down the stretch from the free throw line to help seal the win.
 
Neumann (5-4) will return home on Wednesday to host Misericordia. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM.
