ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Cairn University 66-43 on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest.
Haneef Vaughn led the Knights with 17 points.
Anthony Mitchell tallied 11 points and
Waheem Lowman added 10 points.
Sanoussi Abdourhamane was very close to a triple with 15 rebounds, nine points and nine blocks.
The Highlanders held the pace of the game at the beginning, building an 11-2 lead after seven minutes.
Jordyn Kendrick hit a three-pointer to start a 13-4 run for the Knights and two free throws by Abdourhamane tied the game at 15 with 6:08 left in the half. Mitchell put Neumann in the lead with a dunk on the next possession. The Knights continued to build up their lead and took a 30-21 lead into halftime.
The Knights scored the first seven points of the second half to increase their lead to 16, 37-21. Neumann did not let up the pressure in the second half and came away with the 66-43 win.
Neumann (6-5) will be on the court next Saturday when it travels to Susquehanna for its final game of the 2019 calendar year.
