AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Neumann University baseball team opened its trip south with a 7-4 win over Alma College on Tuesday afternoon.
Danny Padilla picked up three hits and two RBI in the win. He also saw time on the mound.
Andrew Fowler and
Tre'Zhan Selby each knocked in a pair.
Tyler Ramos tallied two hits.
Jared Morris started the game and went 5.1 scoreless innings for the win. Padilla pitched 3.1 innings and allowed four unearned runs.
John Schoelkopf picked up the save, getting the final out of the contest.
The Knights put the first run on the board in the third inning as Selby doubled and knocked in Fowler. Selby then singled in the fifth and scored on a double by
John Lindeborn. Lindeborn then scored on a single by Padilla.
Joe Nepi scored an unearned run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Selby. Fowler hit a two-run single in the seventh inning to score Padilla and Ramos and put the Knights up 6-0. Schoelkopf scored the seventh run of the game after he doubled and came around to score on a double by Padilla.
The Scots tried to get some momentum in the ninth inning and plated four unearned runs, but the Knights were able to buckle down and get the final outs of the game and the 7-4 win.
Neumann (3-3) will continue action tomorrow as it will face Augustana beginning at 9:30 AM.
