AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 12-7 on Thursday afternoon.
The Knights tallied 17 hits in the game, led by
John Lindeborn and
Zach Ray with three each. Ray also knocked in three runs while
Danny Padilla knocked in two.
Phil Sanborn started the game for the Knights and went the first two innings. He allowed three runs on five hits and struck out three.
Brennan Hatala went the next 2.2 innings and allowed four runs on five hits. Lindeborn picked up the win, going the final 4.1 innings, and allowing just one hit.
Both teams scored three runs in the second inning. The Raiders took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
The Knights plated four runs in the top of the fourth for a 7-4 advantage.
John Schoelkopf led off with a double. Lindeborn was hit by a pitch and Padilla singled to knock in Schoelkopf. Ray hit an RBI double and
Tyler Ramos hit a sacrifice fly.
The teams again each scored three runs, this time in the fifth inning for a 10-7 score. Neumann added insurance runs in the sixth and ninth innings for the 12-7 final.
Neumann (4-4) will face Saint Mary's (Minn.) tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 1:45 PM.
