ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team opened its home portion of the 2019 season on Tuesday afternoon and fell to Widener University 11-3.
 
John Schoelkopf had three hits for the Knights. John Lindeborn added two knocks. Nick Glebocki started the game and went 5.1 innings on the mound in the loss. Josh Cruz came in and pitched two outs in the sixth inning. Jared Morris went the final three innings and didn't allow a run.
 
The Knights opened the scoring in the first inning as Schoelkopf and Lindeborn led off with back-to-back singles. Zach Ray knocked in Schoelkopf with a sacrifice fly.
 
The Pride put three runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. Neumann got a run back in the home half of the fourth. Danny Padilla led off with a double and scored on an RBI ground out by Tyler Ramos.
 
Widener hit a two-run homerun in the top of the fifth. The Knights scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth for a 5-3 score.
 
The Pride sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the sixth inning and plated six runs to break the game open.
 
Neumann (5-8) will remain at home and will host Salisbury next Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
