Cassidy and Conrad's Milestones Not Enough as Knights Fall at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team suffered its second setback of the the season on Saturday afternoon, falling on the road at Elizabethtown College by a score of 21-11 in non-conference action.

Kaitlyn Conrad was excellent for Neumann in the loss, scoring seven goals on the afternoon to reach the career milestone of 200 goals. Brittany Cassidy chipped in with of pair of goals as well, also hitting the milestone of 100 goals in her career. Catriona Corrigan was solid in goal making 10 saves in the loss. 

Reilly Fiedler got the Knights off to a fast start, scoring 50 seconds into play to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead, but it would be the only lead of the game for the visitors. Elizabethtown took control from there, tallying six straight goals in the next four minutes to take a commanding 6-1 lead. Neumann carried play for the next six minutes, outscoring the Blue Jays 4-3 to cut the lead to 9-5 via two goals from Conrad and a goal each from Cassidy and Brylin Adams. That was as close as the Knights would get the rest of the way though, as the hosts closed out the first frame on a 9-0 run to take a comfortable 18-5 lead into halftime.

Conrad shined in the second half with five of the team's six goals in the stanza, but it was far too little, too late. The Knights outscored the Blue Jays by a count of 6-3 in the period, but they could not fight their way back into the game, falling by a score of 21-11.

Neumann (4-2) will get back to action next Tuesday, March 19th when the team heads to Hood College. Game-time for the non-conference matchup is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
