FREDERICK, Md. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team dropped its second game in a row on Tuesday afternoon, falling on the road at Hood College by a score of 18-10.
Kaitlyn Conrad found the back of the net five times in the loss for the Knights, while
Brittany Cassidy recorded two goals and an assist.
Catriona Corrigan and
Sara Ropski split time in goal, combining for seven saves on the afternoon.
Things did not start well for Neumann on the day. The Blazers blitzed the Knights for nine of the first ten goals of the game to take a 9-1 lead with under ten minutes left to play in the first frame.
Ally Bee was the lone goal scorer for Neumann early on. Conrad got the visitors back into the game with three unanswered goals to make it 9-4 Hood with 3:02 left in the period, but two late Blazer goals gave the hosts an 11-4 lead heading into halftime.
The Knights played a much better second stanza, but could not bring the deficit any closer than six. After an early Hood goal brought the score to 12-4, Conrad and Cassidy scored to make it 12-6 but that was as close as Neumann would get. Despite another goal each from Conrad and Cassidy as well as a goal apiece from
Brylin Adams and
Abby Kelton, the visitors fell by a score of 18-10.
Neumann (4-3) will return right back to the field on Thursday, March 21st for another non-conference contest versus SUNY Old Westbury. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
