Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University women's tennis team was taken down by Atlantic East conference rival Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday afternoon, falling on the road by a score of 8-1.
Doubles play did not start well for the Knights as the visitors dropped all three matches to fall into an 0-3 hole to open the contest.
Mia Cimino and
Maddy Varney fought hard at first doubles, but ultimately fell by a score of 8-1.
The Griffins kept their foot on the pedal in singles play, winning five of six matches. The lone bright spot on the day was
Ashley Francis, who picked up an 8-5 victory at sixth singles to stave off the shutout.
Neumann (0-8, 0-2 Atlantic East) will look to rebound next week when the team heads to Atlantic East rival Cabrini University on Wednesday, April 17
th. The match is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
