ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped a 12-4 decision to Arcadia University in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon.
Arcadia struck first with two runs in the second and another in the third. Neumann got on the board with two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth on a single by
John Schoelkopf. Arcadia answered with three more runs in the top of the fifth for a 6-2 lead. It then scored to more in the seventh and four in the eighth.
The Knights plated a run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single by
Andrew La Rosa to score
Danny Padilla. Neumann added another run in the bottom of the ninth, but could not get any closer and fell 12-4.
Phil Sanborn started the game and took the loss. He went 5.0 innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on 13 hits.
David Alvarez went 2.0 innings.
Brennan Hatala and
Nick Henry rounded out the day on the mound.
Neumann (9-11) gets back into conference action tomorrow when it heads to Immaculata for a single game. First pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
