GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team held on for a 25-22 win at Gwynedd Mercy University on Tuesday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Kaitlyn Conrad led the Knights with eight goals and an assist.
Brittany Cassidy tallied six goals and two assists.
Courtney Petrucelli netted four goals and six draw controls.
Reilly Fiedler added three goals and grabbed nine draw controls.
Catriona Corrigan made 12 saves in net for the win.
The teams battled back and forth over the first part of the first half. With the game knotted at seven, the Knights tallied five straight goals for a 12-7 advantage. Neumann took a 15-9 lead into halftime.
The Knights kept the Griffins at arms length for most of the second half, but with six minutes remaining on the clock, Gwynedd Mercy pulled to within two, 20-18. Neumann was able to tally the next five goals for a 25-18 advantage with under two minutes remaining. The Griffins scored the final two goals of the game as the Knights hung on for the 25-22 conference win.
Neumann (9-5, 2-1 Atlantic East) will continue conference action on Saturday as it hosts Marymount. The game is slated for get underway at 1:00 PM.
