Women's Lacrosse Can't Solve Pacers in Atlantic East Semifinal Loss

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team saw its bid for an Atlantic East Conference championship come to an end on Wednesday evening, falling on the road at Marywood University by a score of 18-8.

Kaitlyn Conrad was outstanding in her final conference game of her career, scoring six times in the loss. Brittany Cassidy and Brylin Adams also scored for Neumann, who received five saves in goal from Catriona Corrigan.

The Pacers imposed their will on the Knights from the opening draw, scoring the first eight goals of the contest to take a commanding 8-0 lead just ten minutes into the game. Conrad broke the run up with a goal at 18:53 to get Neumann on the board, but Marywood tallied four of the next six goals to end the half with a 12-3 lead. Conrad continued to be the lone bright spot for the Knights in the opening 30 minutes, scoring twice late in the period to finish off a first-half hat trick.

The Knights were much more competitive in the second stanza, but their comeback attempt was a bit too little, too late. Marywood scored two of the first three goals of the half to go up 14-4, but two Knight goals from Adams and Conrad brought the score back to 14-6 with 17:54 left to play. Unfortunately for the visitors that was as close as they would get on the evening. The Pacers outscored Neumann 4-2 the rest of the way to clinch the semifinal victory and advance to the Atlantic East Conference championship game this Saturday.

Despite being eliminated from the conference tournament, Neumann (11-8) will now await word of a potential ECAC tournament bid. The Knights will learn their fate on Monday, May 6th, so please be sure to check back then for updates.
