Baseball Opens Postseason Action Friday

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team will open its quest for the 2019 Atlantic East Conference Championship on Friday.
 
The Knights wrapped up the season 14-20 overall and 5-7 in conference play to be the No. 5 seed in the playoffs. Neumann will head to Gwynedd Mercy, the No. 2 seed, and will meet up with no. 3 seeded Marymount in Pod B action.
 
Pod A action will feature No. 1 Cabrini hosting No. 4 seeded Immaculata and No. 6 seeded Wesley. The winner of each pod will meet next week in the championship series.
 
During the regular season, the Neumann split with both Gwynedd Mercy and Marymount. Back on March 23, the Saints took game one 1-0 while the Knights won game two 8-5.
 
The Knights and the Griffins wrapped up conference action this past Sunday. Gwynedd Mercy won the first game while Neumann took the night cap. Both game scores were 15-6.
 
For the season, Neumann is led by John Schoelkopf, who is batting .380 over 33 contests. He leads the team with 46 hits and is second with 10 doubles. Andrew La Rosa is batting .330 while Danny Padilla is at .328. John Lindeborn, who is the only Knight to start all 34 contests, has tallied 42 hits with a team-high 11 doubles while adding four homeruns. Curt Yenchik has powered a team-high seven homeruns and 40 RBI this season.
 
Jared Morris is 6-1 on the mound in 12 appearances. Over 37.0 innings, he has an ERA of 1.46 and has tallied a save. Phil Sanborn has picked up three saves while Nick Glebocki has added a pair.
 
Action gets underway at 9:00 AM as Neumann will face host Gwynedd Mercy. Neumann and Marymount will then get underway at 12:15 PM.
