SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team fell in a pair of matches at the Trinity National Invitational on Friday afternoon. In the first match, the Knights fell to College of Saint Benedict 3-0. Neumann then dropped a 3-0 decision to host Trinity University (Texas).
In the first match,
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with nine kills and eight digs.
Rachel Cray handed out 12 assists. CSB won the sets by scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-14.
Against host Trinity,
Ariana Pena led the team with six kills. Malseed and
Jess Charlier each added five.
Alex Koppany dished out 12 assists while Cray added 10. The Tigers won the sets by scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-23. In the final set, the teams went back and forth until the end, including being knotted at 23.
Neumann (0-2) will continue play at the invitational tomorrow. The Knights will face Mary Hardin-Baylor and Minnesota-Morris on Saturday.
