ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Ursinus College 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
 
Bre Hickey and Melanie Malseed each tallied 11 kills in the win. Hickey also had a hitting percentage of .475 with just two errors. Hayley Glah and Rachel Cray both finished the match with 12 digs. Malseed added 10. Cray handed out 32 assists.
 
After the Bears scored the first point of the match, the Knights went on to score eight straight points. Neumann went on to win the first set 25-17.
 
In the second set, Ursinus took an early lead and went up 7-1.Neumann battled back and tied the set at 16. With the set knotted at 17, the Bears scored five consecutive points and eight of the final nine points for a 25-18 win.
 
Neither team took an early advantage in the third set and the teams traded points. With a 15-13 Knights lead, Neumann rattled off five points for a 20-13 lead. The Knights came away with a 25-16 win for a 2-1 match lead.
 
The teams again battled back and forth in the fourth set. With the set tied at 17, the Knights jumped out to a 20-17 advantage. Again the team traded points, but a kill by Hickey sealed the 25-22 set win and 3-1 match win.
 
Neumann (2-7) will next host Penn State Berks next Tuesday evening. Action is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
