ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team dropped an 87-81 Atlantic East Conference decision to Wesley College on Saturday afternoon.
Waheem Lowman led the Knights with 21 points.
Nasir Cassel tallied 16 points while
Jordyn Kendrick added 15.
The teams featured six lead changes in the first part of the contest and 17 three-pointers over the first half. A free throw by
Justin Smith made it a one-point Wesley lead, 15-14 with 12:15 on the clock. The Wolverines went on a 9-2 run to take a 24-16 advantage. A three-pointer by Cassel and two baskets by
Sanoussi Abdourhamane brought the Knights back to within one, 24-23. Wesley went on another run, this time 10-2, for a 34-25 lead. The teams traded baskets over the final five minutes of the half and the Wolverines held a 44-37 lead at the break.
Early in the second half, Wesley built up a 16-point lead, 56-40. Two three-pointers by Kendrick and a jumper by Lowman cut the lead in half, 56-48. The Wolverines lead would range from six to 11 points over the rest of regulation as the Knights were not able to get the key basket to get any closer.
Neumann (7-8, 1-1 Atlantic East) will head to Marymount on Wednesday for the first conference road game. Action is slated to get underway at 8:00 PM.
