RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell in a back and forth affair at Cabrini University, 87-76, on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.
Nasir Cassel led the Knights with 19 points.
Jordyn Kendrick netted 14 points and
Dennis Robinson added 12.
Justin Smith grabbed 12 rebounds.
The teams traded baskets throughout the first half as there were 12 lead changes and eight tied scores. Robinson hit the final basket of the half for a 40-38 Neumann edge at halftime.
The Cavaliers came out of the break and opened the second half by scoring 10 of the first 11 points to take a 48-41 lead. The Knights netted the next nine points for a 50-48 lead. The teams then went basket again until midway through the half. With Neumann up by two, 60-58, Cabrini went on an 11-0 run for a 69-60 score.
A three-pointer by Kendrick pulled the Knights within four, 78-74, with three minutes left in regulation. A minute went by before another point was scored when the Cavaliers hit a lay-up-and-one for a seven point advantage. After trading free throws, Cabrini hit the final two baskets of the contest to come away with the win.
Neumann (8-12, 2-5 Atlantic East) is back on the court on Wednesday as it heads to Wesley conference for more conference action. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 PM.
