DOVER, Del. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell at Wesley College 83-62 on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.
Nasir Cassel netted 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Knights. The junior hit five three-pointers in the game.
Justin Smith also notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
Tied at 11 six minutes into the game, the Knights scored nine straight points for a 20-11 lead. The Wolverines started to chip their way into the deficit and took the lead, 29-27, with five minutes left before halftime. Wesley finished the half on a 12-3 run to take a 41-30 lead at the break.
Five minutes into the second half, a layup by Cassel pulled Neumann to within four, 47-43. Wesley answered right back with a three-pointer. The Knights again got to within four, 54-50, midway through the half. The Wolverines scored the next nine points to extend their lead to 13, 63-50. Wesley continued to build its lead throughout the rest of the half to come away with the 83-62 win.
Neumann (8-13, 2-6 Atlantic East) will host Marymount on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East contest. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 PM.
