WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at in a tri-match at King's (Pa.) College on Saturday afternoon.
In the first match, the Knights faced New Jersey City University and fell 3-0. Set scores were 25-14, 25-16 and 28-26.
Conner Kolek tallied six kills and 15 digs.
Jules Maiorano handed out 18 assists.
Down 18-11 in the final set, Neumann was able to score five straight points to pull within two, 18-16. The Knights drew even at 23 late before the teams traded points. NJCU was able to score two straight points with the teams knotted at 26 to take the set 28-26.
Against King's, the Monarchs won 3-0. Set scores were 25-23, 25-18 and 25-16. Kolek notched nine kills and 10 digs. Maiorano dished out 31 assists.
Nick Shortlidge tallied 14 digs and
Thomas McConnell added 11.
The first set went back and forth. Down four late, the Knights were able to tally four straight point for a 22-all set. King's scored two points to get to set point. McConnell had a kill for a 24-23 score, but the Monarchs were able to get the set point on the next serve.
Neumann (3-13) will travel to Lehman on Tuesday for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 PM.
