CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team battled at Widener University on Thursday evening, but ultimately fell 3-0 in the non-conference match-up. Set scores were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-19.
 
Conner Kolek tallied five kills and 14 digs. Jules Maiorano handed out 15 assists. Ryan Bollinger, John Hoopes and Thomas McConnell each added four kills. Nick Shortlidge added nine digs.
 
In the first set, the Knights jumped out to an 8-4 advantage. With Neumann leading 12-8, Widener netted eight straight points for a 16-12 lead. The Knights answered with six straight points to take back the lead, 18-16. Down 20-18, the Pride scored five points for a 23-18 score. The Knights pulled to within one, 24-23, but Widener was able to hang on for the 25-23 win.
 
The teams went back and forth to start the second set. Widener then scored 10 of 11 points to take a 22-15 lead and come away with the 24-19 set two win.
 
In the third set, the Pride got to set point, 24-15. The Knights scored four straight points, but could not complete the comeback and Widener took the final set 25-19.
  
Neumann (4-14) will be off until after spring break when it will host Rutgers-Newark on March 10. The conference match is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
