ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 6 Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday evening in a Continental Volleyball Conference match-up. Set scores were 25-11, 25-15 and 25-14.
Ryan Bollinger tallied seven kills and six digs to lead the Knights.
Jules Maiorano handed out 17 assists.
Down 11-5 in the first set, the Knights tallied four points to pull within two, 11-9. The Scarlet Raiders answered with six of the next seven points. Rutgers-Newark scored the first six points of the second set.
The Knights took an early 3-1 lead in the third set on kills by
Kyle Slinkman, Bollinger and a Maiorano service ace. The Scarlet Raiders scored the next four points for a 5-3 advantage. Leading 7-6, Rutgers-Newark tallied eight straight points for a 15-6 lead.
Neumann (4-15, 0-4 CVC) is back on the court tomorrow when it travels to Eastern. Action is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
