Women's Lacrosse Falls to John Carroll in Florida Finale

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team fell in its second game of its Florida spring break trip on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 21-7 result to John Carroll University in non-conference action.

Brylin Adams paced the offense on the day with four points (2 g, 2 a), while Courtney Petrucelli had a pair of goals as well. Catriona Corrigan and Sara Ropski split time in goal in the loss, combining for 11 saves.

John Carroll wasted no time building a lead in the non-conference matchup, opening the contest with five goals in the six minutes to take an early 5-0 lead. Adams and Ally Bee scored two of the game's next three goals to bring the score-line to 6-2, but the Knights could not cut the lead any further. The Blue Streaks closed the half on a 10-0 run over the last 14 minutes of the half to take a commanding 16-2 lead into the halftime break.

Despite the score the Knights would not quit in the second half, scoring two of the first three goals of the half to cut the lead to 17-4. Adams scored her second goal of the day, while freshman Carissa Dorley recorded the first goal of her career. John Carroll would register the next three goals to make it 20-4, but the Knights answered back with a three goal run of their own led by a pair of goals from Petrucelli and a single tally from Carlee Herrin to bring the score to 20-7. The Blue Streaks capped off the game with a goal with five minutes left to seal the 21-7 victory.

Neumann (0-2) will return back to Pennsylvania this weekend looking for its first win in another non-conference matchup with Goucher College on Saturday, March 7th. Game-time is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
